Hi ! It's me .... [27 Jul 2005|04:22pm]
[ mood | lalala ]

I am so glad that I found this community, because I think it's one of the best places to talk about Chick Lit. I am a bookworm at all, but I don't only read Chick Lit books, I also read a lot of other stuff, like biographies and novels from the 30's and the 50's, 60's. By the way my name is Sabine and I come from Germany, I thought I would write down what books I have lately read :

Books I lately read :

Bergdorf Blondes by Plum Sykes ( totally love it ! My favourite Chick Lit book ever !)
Gossip Girl (No.3) by Cecily von Ziegesar
Gossip Girl (No.4) by Cecily von Ziegesar
The Devil wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger
Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella

So these were the Chick Lit books I read, but I also read other books, if you wanna know which ones, I can tell you, because there were many novels I totally admire as great books.

Books I am reading at the moment :

The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams
Vanity Fair by William M. Thackeray

So what happened to the book exchange? [24 Feb 2005|11:52am]

[ mood | confused ]

Just wondering what happened to the whole book exchange idea...I've been reading a lot lately, but most of the books are from the local library...I figured I might as well share here in case any of y'all want to read this stuff.

"Little Earthquakes" by Jennifer Weiner

I read her other two books (I think) "Good in Bed" and "In Her Shoes" and I remember liking them so I had to read her latest one. This one is about the lives of four different women whose lives intersect because of having babies. The author goes into great detail about things and it's a very fast read. Very amusing and heart-wrenching at times.

"Outsmarting the female fat cell: the first weight-control program designed specifically for women" by Debra Waterhouse

This book is awesome. I have always wondered why men can lose weight way faster than women. I got the answer to this and more from this book. I will be implementing the OFF plan in my whole fitness routine and I'll let y'all know how it goes in a couple of months. If you're like me and have always tried to lose the extra weight yet finding it difficult to, especially with all the different diets out there today that contradict one another, I suggest you read this book (or at least listen to the audiobook).

More updates later...

It's all about me ^_^ [27 Jan 2005|09:59pm]

Name: Wendy

Age: 23

Location: California ^_^

Favorite book: Right now I adore TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE by Mitch Albom

Favorite book genre: Modern day romance (not the trashy stuff, the realistic sounding but totally roll your eyes at type)...Stuff probably referred to as "chick lit" by Semi *lol* Looks like she will probably hate most my books ^_~

Least favorite book genre: Ah, anything BORING! I am open to most books, though, if the story flows.

Random fact: I want to pull a Jemima J! (If you have not read that book, then too bad, you won't know what I mean.) I'm in the process of doing it but progress is slow because I am not going at it as crazy as she was...

Hey there [27 Jan 2005|11:10am]

Hiya! Just thought I'd write a blurb to introduce myself for those of you who don't know me..

I am 26, live in California, and do engineering stuff at work. Reading and playing video games are two of my favorite hobbies. :) Before I came to the US I used to read a lot of sci-fi and martial arts genre books, now I read sci-fi, fantasy, vampire flicks, and mystery/thrillers mostly. Oh yeah, I also get a weekly comics fix, and I read both American style comics and manga.

I like reading books that are descriptive enough to create a different world for me to experience, though I don't usually read ones that are so descriptive that I fall asleep or lose interest in them (lord of the rings is a good example..). I usually keep getting books in a series once I start, but I hate it when a writer starts to lose his touch and still publishes like mad.

That's all I can think of for now. I look forward to starting the book exchange and making some new friends!

Welcome! An introduction [27 Jan 2005|08:04am]

[ mood | tired ]

Welcome to bookmuse :) Grab a book, pull up a chair, and make yourself comfy.

Please read the community userinfo if you haven't already done so.

Primarily the ones who will be joining already know me but for future reference, allow me to introduce myself.

Name: I go by Vicki, Vix, Pixie, Semi.. whatever you prefer :P

Age: 24

Location: Originally from the UK, I moved over to the US in March '04 and have been avoiding the rednecks and hippies in Oregon since then.

Favorite book: I have a few but the one that stands out is Battle Royale by Koushun Takami

Favorite book genre: Horror, true crime but a lot of books are in a genre of their own

Least favorite book genre: Chick lit. I'm open to good book suggestions though.

Random fact: I'm a walking spell checker but I always spell "Neccessary" wrong. I probably have it wrong there too. It was on a spelling test when I was about 8. I got it wrong then and never learned I guess.
